Fall brings a different feel to our skin, to our homes and also to our church. We begin again with Christian Educational programs as the Adult Study, Daily Bread recommenced as we have been reading and discussing thought provoking articles about biblical study and interpretation. We have come to understand the history and meaning of scriptures in new ways as it relates to our lives in these current times. We enjoy having this opportunity to think about contemporary issues as how this relates to our faith.

Another source of positive energy in the life of our church has been the beginning of our Sunday School. Sarah Quade has volunteered to create the lesson plans. She discovered some great ideas from the UCC website, and our first week engaged the children around the story of Jesus’ encounter with Zacchaeus- a wee little man. The theme was Hospitality and challenged the children to think about how we can be hospitable to neighbors, friends and strangers in our schools, our homes and churches.

Lastly, Zwingli is involved in a Collaborative Ministry which involves five other UCC churches in accomplishing goals and missions together, what we would have difficulty doing on our own. Dr. Judy Batker and Dr. Kit Schaller attended our meeting to present the need of a bunkhouse to be built on the land of Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. A task force is being created for interested persons to creatively raise the funds, material and labor needed to assist in building this.

Blessings, Pastor Sara
